This week we are doing some data handling work. Have a look at the graph below and add any questions you have about the graph in the comments box (eg. How many people scored 10 doubles?). We will answer some of your questions in the lesson tomorrow.
Star of the week: well done to Ben and Teagan for being awarded star of the week for last week! School awards: no school awards this week :( Today we had a trip to Durham Cathedral to learn more about Norman architecture but, when we first got there, we had a case to solve! There were some missing bones from St Bede and we became monks and had to find out who had stolen them! We looked thorough the evidence and came to our own conclusions about who we thought it was. Then we looked around the cathedral and found features of Norman architecture and made some sketches of what we had seen . Last week in maths we practised multiplying numbers using the grid method. Here are some videos showing you how we found our answers. Last week in R.E. we looked at what Christians believe about God. Here are some of our ideas:
God the father is the father of all people, he is also the creator of the universe. Jesus shows us the human side of God, he has always existed but became human (incarnated) for a while. The Holy Spirit is the giver of life - it lives in people. -By Jake. God is loving and cares for everyone, he is also the father of Jesus. Jesus shows the human, loving side of God. The Holy Spirit brings people to God, comforts people and shows people when they are wrong. -By Erin. God is loving and caring for people in his world and is also the creator of the universe. Jesus shows this loving side of God. The Holy Spirit can take any form and is the giver of life who lives in people who believe in God. -By Ellie. This week in maths we will be looking at factors and division methods.
The factors of a number are whole numbers that divide exactly into that number. For example, the number 10 has factors 1, 10, 2 and 5 because 1 x 10 = 10 and 2 x 5 = 10. Recap what you know about factors using these websites to help you with your work in class: http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks2/maths/number/factors_multiples/play/ http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/quiz/q97277382 Star of the week: there were three stars of the week this week! Well done to Ellie, Jack and Kian for showing great work and behaviour in class.
School awards: well done to Class 5W who were awarded the lunchtime award this week. In R.E. We have been looking at Christian symbols and what they represent. Here are some of our own symbols that represent us. Our topic for this half term is all about the Normans! Try to go online and see if you can find any information about the Battle of Hastings in preparation for this weeks lesson. Try these websites: http://resources.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/homework/bt.html http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/primaryhistory/anglo_saxons/normans/ Challenge: After reading the information see if you can answer this question: Who was hit in the eye with an arrow? School awards: well done to Year 5 who were given the lunchtime award for our first week back! Star of the week: well done to Demi who was awarded star of the week for our first week back and well done to Ben and McKenzie who were awarded star of the week for last week. Keep up the great work! |
